What to look for in a plain T-shirt
Most plain tees look alike on a screen. The differences show up after a few weeks of wearing and washing. These are the points worth checking before you buy:

| Fabric | 100 % cotton (heather colours contain some polyester) | Soft, breathable and easy to print on |
| Weight | Approx. 150 to 190 gsm | Heavier fabric is less see-through and keeps its shape |
| Neckline | Ribbed crew neck or V-neck that lies flat | A weak collar is the first thing to go wavy |
| Side seams | Tubular (no side seams) or side-seamed | Tubular tees are simple and even, side seams give a more shaped fit |
| Sizes | A wide range, e.g. XS to XXXL | Important when you buy for a group |
| Total price | Price per tee plus delivery | A cheap tee with expensive delivery is not cheap |

Fabric weight is given in gsm (grams per square metre). It is the quickest way to compare plain tees from different brands.
- Light (approx. 140 to 150 gsm): airy and soft, good for summer, sport and layering.
- Mid-weight (approx. 160 to 180 gsm): the everyday all-rounder for workwear, events and printing.
- Heavy cotton (approx. 190 gsm and up): sturdy, less see-through and with a boxier drape.
